What’s it all about?
Picture this: come December, the village of Goodrich becomes a giant advent calendar. Every day something magical lights up in a new window – and you can join the fun.
It’s festive. It’s local. It’s a little bit of warm and cuddly fun on those cold winters nights. And it’s entirely about the joy of community, creativity and maybe a mince-pie or two.
Volunteer a window 🏠
Have a window (big or small) that could shine? We’re looking for 24 windows across the village to be decorated — inside, outside, chandeliers, fairy-lights, mirror balls — you name it.
No experience required. Bring sparkle, we’ll bring the excitement.
Follow the clues and hunt the windows 📸
Each morning in December we’ll post a clue on Instagram: where’s today’s lucky window, what’s the theme, perhaps a riddle or two. Grab a hot chocolate, wrap up warm and go on a merry wander.

Rules (because there are a few)
- Any Goodrich resident can offer a window.
- Decor must be safe, weather-wise, and respectful of neighbours.
- The window must be clearly visible from a public space (so passers-by can enjoy).
- You’ll commit to keeping your window lit (or viewable) from 5pm (or earlier!) on the day of your slot.
- Fun must be had.

When does it start?
On December 1 — and runs through to December 24.
How will I know when it’s my turn?
Once you volunteer, we’ll assign you a date and send you a “Your spotlight day” email.
What if I’m just walking around rather than decorating?
That’s perfect too. Follow our Instagram feed and clues, and explore the village with a sense of festive mischief.
Is it free?
Absolutely. All you need is your window (or your walking shoes) and a sprinkle of holiday spirit.
Am I expected to be present on ‘my day’?
No, all that’s required is that your window is ‘open’ (clearly not physically open, more metaphorically!) but if you’d like to serve the merry wanderers discovering your window a mince pie or two or maybe even some mulled wine no one is going to stop you!
